Practices of Crop production

What is crop production?

The production of various types of crops for fulfilling the need of people . Also to get food and fiber. This is called crop production .

Basic practices needed to grow crops ?

1.PLOUGHING

The process of loosening the soil and turning it so that all the nutrients mix up with it. This process is called ploughing. It is done by using tools like plough,how and cultivator(used in tractors) .

2.SOWING

This is the important process for growing crops . In thi process we need good and high quality of seeds to sow them properly and to get good crops. It is also done by tools like seed drills etc.

3. FERTILIZING THE SOIL

To get good and fresh quality of crops this process is needed . To make the soil fertile manure and fertilizers are used . Manure is natural for ex- cow's dung,dead plants and animals. Fetilisers are made in factories.

4. IRRIGATION.

The process of watering plants after regular intervals for their better growth  is called irrigation. There are two types of method of irrigation. Drip irrigation and Sprinkler system.

5.PROTECTION OF CROPS.

We need to protect the crops with many problems . For ex protection from insects, animals, weed (unwanted and poisonous plants which are grown with crops). To protect the crops from animals we need to fence the field . To protect crops from weeds we need to use chemicals called pesticides and weedicides like 2-D and   4-D . 

6. HARVESTING

It is also and important practice needed for crop production.  The cutting of crop when it is grown successfully is called harvesting. Many festivals are there which are based on harvesting for ex- bihu in assam and makar sankranti in up/bihar. 

7. STORAGE

Storage means ti keep it safe and fine at someplace for a long time in such a way that they are protected from insects like rats,ants and many microorganisms.  They should also be safe from moisture and heat. They are stored in graineries and farms.

What is animal husbandry?

The kind of food provided by many domestic animals . For ex-  milk by cow and goat , meat from fish,hens,goat etc. To store them for a longer time and keep it fresh and fine is called animal husbandry.
